The London Borough of Richmond has a dedicated Family Information Service that provides free impartial information and advice on a range of facilities for children and young people aged 0-20 years old. These include services provided by the Council but also include a wide range of organisations in the voluntary, private and independent sectors.
The FIS can supply information individually tailored to the needs of the enquirer, including information on -
• Childcare – lists of local Children’s Centres, nurseries, childminders, crèches, pre-schools and other day-care providers
• Parent and toddler groups
• Play and Leisure activities – including toy libraries, singing, dance and drama classes for all ages, sports, soft play, yoga and many others.
• After-school care and holiday play schemes – details of activities for school aged children after school or during school holidays.
• Positive Activities – details of activities for young people aged 13-19
• Funding – advice on 3 & 4 year old funding, working families’ tax credit, childcare vouchers, and financial support for parents, lone parents, student parents.
• Parental Support - information on organisations that can help and who offer support sessions.
