Description:

Richmond is the principle town of the Royal London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The development of Richmond as a suburb began in 1876 with the opening of the railway station. It became a very fashionable place to live as a home to royalty in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, a trend which continues today.

Richmond is well endowed with green and open spaces open to the public. Richmond Park, London's largest royal park,  lies to the east and south of the town, it is about three times the size of Central Park in New York and is home to around 650 red and fallow deer.

The town itself is quite compact with numerous designer boutiques, high-street stores, pubs, secluded cafes and a wealth of restaurants boasting a wide variety of cuisine.

There is a farmer's market which takes place every Saturday from 11am-3pm trading in dairy products, meats, baked goods and fresh vegetables.

Richmond has a lively events calender offering something for everyone all year round.
The town has two professional theatres, the Richmond Theatre, which receives major national tours, and The Orange Tree Theatre which has acquired a national reputation for the quality of its work and for discovering undeservedly forgotten old plays.

The town also has three cinemas, the arthouse Curzon in Water lane and two Odeon cinemas with a total of seven screens, one located upon entry to Richmond via the bridge, and the second located on Red Lion street.
There are art galleries and museums in this cultural town celebrating its rich heritage.

Located on a meander of the River Thames, Richmond is an important local commercial centre and is surrounded by a number of parks, gardens and village greens.

Schools in the area are sought after as are most in the Richmond Borough.
