Description:
A former agricultural village known for its orchards, Teddington today is mainly a residential area but is bisected by an almost continuous road of shops, art galleries and offices running from the River Thames to Bushy Park. Teddington Lock, the River Thames largest lock, is sited in a conservation area, where the tidal and non-tidal sections of the Thames come together. Pedestrians can now enjoy walking or cycling by the riverside thanks to recent enhancements to the towpaths and footbridge.Teddington has both media and scientific links having Teddington Studios on the river where many notable productions were filmed like Pop Idol, Parkinson and Reggie Perrin and also the National Physical Laboratory which is the largest applied physics organisation in the UK and is based at Bushy park.
It is a pleasant town in which to both shop and eat. There are several play parks dotted throughout to amuse the younger folk. Teddington and the Hamptons are almost surrounded by the Thames and Royal Parks , Bushy Park, Hampton Court with Home Park, and Richmond Park on the other side of the Thames.
Because of the many attractions in the vicinity, Teddington is a popular area for relocation as it is not as expensive as Richmond itself. Schools in the area are sought after as are most in the Richmond Borough.
Buses services for Teddington.
