Description:
Richmond Park is closed to traffic for one day only on September 12th 2010. The Royal Park is the proud host of the London Duathlon, the world's biggest run, bike, run event.
This year the duathlon is to offer a long distance challenge, of 20km run, 80km bike and 10km run. This gives athletes moving up to longer distance racing, the chance to test themselves in the safety of a closed-road environment.
There is ample spectator access to see much of the event, and the Park provides a great day out for family & friends. Richmond Park is the largest open space in London covering almost 2,500 acres, and is home to a huge array of wildlife. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy while cheering the participants along.
A focal point near to Roehampton gate has been created for spectators which will enable them to support the athletes. The start, finish and transition are all located near to Roehampton gate, and should make for great spectating. There will also be a competitor village area, with Triathlon specific retail outlets, as well as drinks sampling, catering, and much more besides.
New for 2010 is the children's event will follow the same format as the adult race: RUN - BIKE - RUN.
