Several children attending a summer camp at St Catherine's School, Twickenham were treated by paramedics yesterday after 100 litres of chemicals were poured down a drain. The incident occurred at 10:30am
London Ambulance Service (LAS) said it had treated 26 children and adults exhibiting 'minor symptoms' from chemical fumes. The children were treated then taken to hospital coughing and with sore throats.
A spokesman from London Fire Brigade said the chemicals were believed to be about 100 litres of sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulphate and that up to 100 people were moved to safety.
LAS sent eight crews and a specialist hazardous area response team to the scene.
The Metropolitan Police said they were investigating reports that 100 litres of chemicals were poured down a drain .
